Desiree DelanoCropWebV2
Desiree Delano, Director of Food Services

Desiree, known to most as Des, was born in Chelsea, MA. She arrived at Prospect House with a culinary pedigree – her father, a chef at Harvard, her mother, a dietary aid in both Assisted Living and Hospital settings.

“Every dinner made at home was taught to me, so I could help next time,” she recalls. Pretty soon she was taking part in every meal, sometimes teaching her younger cousins and sometimes adding her own twist to a family favorite.

Desiree’s road to Prospect House began with a Certified Nursing Assistant course in high school. Armed with her passion for the culinary arts, a Certificate for Nursing and Dietary in hand, and training at local nursing homes and hospitals, she was warmly welcomed into food services at Prospect House in 2003. Hard work and supervisory positions followed, leading to her eventual appointment as Chef and Director of Food Services. It’s a position she cherishes for the opportunity to add the ingredients of love and affection to every meal she creates.

Desiree is married to her high school sweetheart and is happy to say, “It’s so good when I leave something I love each day to go home to someone I love.”
